Created for everyday believers, this study gently equips you with accessible tools to read, understand, and engage with Scripture on your own terms. Whether you are studying solo or walking through it with a small group, Unruffled removes the pressure of rigid expectations and helps you draw closer to God.
In this study you will learn four study techniques: pray-read-think-write-pray method, cross referencing, author identification, and basic verse mapping.
Study Design
Quiet time is one of those things that seems easy, and like it should be second nature. But the reality is that many of us don’t have a solid habit of spending solo time with God. We live in a very busy time, with so many resources it is overwhelming to know where to start. This study has a unique approach to get you started with a solid quiet time habit: each person in your small group will be following their own unique reading plan.
This means that when you come together each week, you will get the opportunity to learn a little bit about lots of different parts of the Bible. Having each person follow a different reading plan also allows you to focus on the main goal of this study: over coming the barriers that stand between you and a solid quiet time.

Weekly Commitment: 20 – 120 minutes. Why the big range? The weekly commitment will vary depending on the size of the reading plan you chose to follow. The beauty of this method is that everyone gets to meet God where they are. Whether you have a schedule that is packed to the max or have the time, but lack direction, this study will scale to your life.

Follow Your Interest: The choose-your-own-adventure style of this study allows each small group member to pursue the type of reading plan that most interests them. The bible-in-a-year readers can follow right along with the people who want to deep dive Revelation, or better understand the Trinity.

Build Your Toolset: Each session focuses on a different tool related to quiet time reading. These tools can be used as needed after the study to suit any reading plan. You can use all four tools at once or pick just one. You will walk away from the study equipped with techniques that will serve you for a lifetime.
Inside the Study
The first session of this study walks you through identifying the specific barriers that have prevented you from engaging in a quiet time habit. Each week, your small group will learn a new quiet time study technique. Even with all of the resources we have available to us, making quiet time a regular practice can be difficult. The goal of this study is to help each person identify the hurdles that stand in the way of spending time with God consistently.

Study Length: 5 weeks
Homework
This study has 2-3 days of homework each week, and can be completed in around 60 minutes. The homework consists of following a reading plan and completing a journaling activity. Note that the amount of homework will vary depending on the reading plan you choose.
Groups vs. Individuals
Unruffled was written for a small group/bible study setting. If you are purchasing this study as an individual (or pair) you will still find a lot of value to this study. There is a mini guide included in the study for individuals.
Leader Guide
The Leader Guide is built into the study. You do not need to buy a separate book for the leader. Inside the study, you will find blue boxes sprinkled throughout with information for the leader.
